Synthetic (polyester) = plastic.
- In the production of conventional synthetics, we use up new natural resources:
At the raw material stage, we pump out oil for the future fabric - at the production stage – this oil needs to be refined and processed to produce polyester, which in turn consumes a lot of water and electricity and leaves a lot of waste.
In our case, we don’t use new natural resources as raw materials, but rather recycled materials such as nylon fishing nets and plastic industrial waste.
Here are some numbers:
✓ For every 10,000 tons of ECONYL® raw materials (which are used to produce ZHYVA clothing), 70,000 barrels of oil are saved and 57,100 tons of carbon dioxide emissions are reduced
ECONYL® fiber production has a 90% lower global warming impact than conventional nylon production from petroleum.
Our raw materials for fiber production are washed only with water and high pressure.
⓶ Now for the naturalness.
For everyday clothes (dresses, trousers, T-shirts, sweaters, etc.), it is better to choose items with the most natural composition. Although there are already many disputes about this.
But there are several categories of clothing that are not appropriate to make from natural fabrics. These include swimwear and fitness clothing. Why?
- Sportswear should have good compression for proper distribution of the load on the muscles (for uniform production of lactic acid)
- The fabric of sportswear should be wear-resistant, moisture-wicking, and quick-drying.
- Swimwear should be resistant to chlorine, salt water, and the sun.
Natural fabrics do not have all these properties.
Sportswear and swimwear made of natural fabrics will quickly lose their appearance and can actually harm your health.
